Biofilm is formed by bacteria adhering to the surface of an object. It is a mixed group composed of different types of bacteria. Their growth mode is very different from that of bacteria in suspension, and their sensitivity to antibacterial substances is reduced. For example, the green pus, large intestine and Staphylococcus aureus on the tube wall can grow in the killing concentration (suspension) of β-lactam; the biofilm of Escherichia coli can survive in 200mg/L chlorhexidine solution for 2h, while the same bacteria in the suspension can be rapidly killed.
